Velez credits the growth of our businesses to a commitment to diversity and the creation of opportunities to further support that growth. As a byproduct of staunch support for minority businesses, we have gone over and above the requirements to create creative diversity solutions embodied in the true spirit of building strong emerging businesses.
The Velez Organization believes in meeting and/or exceeding contract requirements for Minority/Woman Business Enterprises (M/WBE) participation. It is important to note that for over 40 years, Velez Organization has been certified Minority Business Enterprise with New York State, as well as numerous other certifications with agencies such as NYC, DASNY, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
The Velez Organization has a strong commitment to including M/WBE’s in all of its work. Elizabeth Velez acts as the firm’s community liaison and administrator of its minority/small business participation program. She has also co-chaired a seminar on women entrepreneurship for the NYS Assembly and is a board member of the Association of Minority Businesses of NY, and the Latino Builders Council. Moreover, she sits on the Diversity Advisory Board for the New York State Department of Transportation, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, the New York City School Construction Authority, and the New York City Department of Small Business Services.
