HUDSON RIVER PARK: BIKEWAY AND LAY-BY CONSTRUCTION

The Velez Organization was responsible for the construction management of the Bikeway and Lay-by Construction for Hudson River Park. The Bikeway provided another entryway to the Esplanade and Park as well as a recreational space.

Operations included the protection of existing structures, maintenance of existing construction fencing, and temporary protection measures to facilitate project mobilization and access. A temporary bike lane was first created, and later replaced by a permanent bikeway.

Bikeway operations included excavation, earthwork, and grading; cast-in-place and pre-cast concrete; site utility systems (including site electrical, plumbing, and civil work); roadway pavement systems (incl. unit paving, asphalt paving, and cast-in-place concrete paving); and removal of temporary protections and controls toward the conclusion of the project.
