The Velez Organization is providing construction management services for the New York City Economic Development Corp (EDC) and the NYC Parks Department with Turner Construction Corp to manage the demolition of the original Yankee Stadium and construction of Heritage Field, a 10-acre public recreational facility to be built at the site of the original stadium in the Bronx, N.Y. Demolition of the original stadium has been completed making way for construction of Heritage Field which was completed in Fall 2011.
Heritage Field includes a championship lighted baseball field, softball field, Little League playing field and track and field spaces. The scope of work also includes reconstruction of Ruppert Place to serve as a pedestrian walkway and plaza, and site and infrastructure improvements. In addition, more than 500 trees were planted in Heritage Field.
