The Velez Organization served as the developer and builder for hundreds of newly constructed affordable two- and three-family homes throughout the Bronx. The developments consisted of contemporary two-, three-, and four-story brick residences, each incorporating one or two rental units to expand affordable homeownership opportunities while providing homeowners with supplemental rental income.

The projects included site development, utility coordination, and installation of individual utility service connections while addressing varying site conditions and maintaining project budgets and schedules. Velez Organization managed the development process through construction completion and Certificates of Occupancy.

Velez Organization secured federal, state, and local grants, subsidies, and tax abatement programs to make the homes affordable for first-time homebuyers. Working closely with community stakeholders, Velez conducted public outreach meetings with local elected officials, administered the housing lottery process, and assisted purchasers through mortgage qualification, homeownership, and landlord education programs. The projects also generated significant economic opportunities by employing local residents and MWBE firms across virtually every building trade.
