Delta Air Lines Terminal C, LaGuardia Airport
Location: New York, NY (Queens)
Delivery Method: Construction Management
LEED: Silver
The award-winning Delta Air Lines Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport stands as a landmark within the airport’s $8 billion redevelopment program. The 1.3-million-square-foot terminal replaced the airport’s former Terminals C and D with 37 gates across four concourses, connected by a centralized check-in lobby, security checkpoint, and baggage claim. Dual taxi lanes at each gate improved airfield efficiency and reduced taxi times before takeoff and after landing.
Velez Organization provided construction management services as a subconsultant to STV Inc., which served as Delta’s construction manager-as-agent, overseeing 21 coordinated sub-projects that brought the terminal to life. The finished terminal features a new, larger Delta Sky Club with a Sky Deck, wider concourses, larger gate hold rooms, 30 percent more concessions space than the previous terminals, and $12 million in Delta-commissioned art installations. The facility also offers direct access between the parking garage and terminal, improved roadways and drop-off/pick-up areas, and a curbside check-in bypass leading directly into the security checkpoint, with sustainable technologies and energy efficiency improvements integrated throughout.
The project has received national recognition from ACEC and was named “Best New York Project” by ENR magazine.
